It's a pitty all instructions are for winblows... I do not have
that os available.

I have done all pre stuff... hecules patch etc...

That beta 0.9 image worked ok - out of the box.

When try to set up version 1.0 i simply cannot figure out
how to fix that... js2sp0 IS in dasd list and in hercules
point of view that is also included.

IEE351I SMF SYS1.MAN RECORDING NOT BEING USED
IGF992I MIH INIT COMPLETE, PRI=000300, SEC=000015
IEF677I WARNING MESSAGE(S) FOR JOB JES2 ISSUED
$HASP493 JES2 QUICK-START IS IN PROGRESS
$HASP443 JS2SP0 NOT ALLOCATED
$HASP428 CORRECT THE ABOVE PROBLEMS AND RESTART JES2
$HASP085 JES2 TERMINATION COMPLETE

Is this a commonly known issue or am I the first one?

Hello Sippo!

I have not tried out version 1 - I am still using 0.9 while I get all the hosting infrastructure sorted. That said I will of course be tying to get version 1 of MVS/380 and VM/80 working in due course - and that will definitely be on Linux!

I have not seen that error and have searched for it on the Yahoo groups - can't see any reference to it.

I suggest you post on the MVS/380 yahoo group here http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/hercules-os380 and I am sure they will sort it out.

Cheers

Adrian

Thanks! I'll join that yahoo group - seems to be quite a lot of mvs groups in yahoo.
There is a lot of stuff in this 0.9 version - I've got some old tapes but ofcourse
cannot transfer them into any reasonable format - no old tape readers in my
carage or so :-) attached my modified vtam logon.

Next todo:
- rakf study - looks like i need to copy some files... s rakfinit ---> RAKFINIT - ABEND S806
- database acces in pl1, a decent sql db would be fun. dli is a pain.
- etc...

this 0.9 version is quite ok for that "wresling my old mvs muscles." stuff
I did in early days some apps for developers, so they could quite easily
edit -> compile -> test their programs without hassling around tso.

FYI - I have added my RAKF notes here -> http://www.open-bpm.org/index.php/mvs_cookbook.html

Let me know if you are interested in helping out with supported a hosted instance on MVS/380 (I aim to provide the infrastructure - hardware/software - to host it, but I am not sure how to actually support/setup MVS, if you see what I mean)

Hi. I've been busy.
My technical knowledge of MVS itself is quite poor - never have/could not even
install it from the beginning.

I've mainly installed/maintained proprietary 3:d party software when was as
systems programmer - and created that dev environment when I was a pl1
developer. (used REXX mostly on that) It's been over 10 years since i did
that kindow job - I have notised that quite well i have forgotten things.
It's now java and that kindow stuff.

I'll gladly try to answer questions if I happen to know the answer
